LÄPPLE Aus- & Weiterbildung: “Sheet metal car” project - Students at Horneck School experience technology up close 11.03.2025

As part of the “Blechauto” project, around 15 Students from Horneckschule Gundelsheim visited LÄPPLE AUSBILDUNGS GmbH on March 11, 2025. A practical day full of technical insights, exciting workshop units and personal success stories - all in the spirit of early career guidance.

What does technology feel like? How are components made? And what does an electronics technician or industrial mechanic actually do in practice? Around 15 students from Horneckschule Gundelsheim were given answers to these questions when they visited LÄPPLE AUSBILDUNGS GmbH in Heilbronn for a project day on March 11, 2025.

The day began with a joint pretzel breakfast, followed by a short presentation on training at LÄPPLE. The centerpiece of the visit was then presented: the “sheet metal car” project, in which the young people were able to become active themselves.

In small groups, the participants worked under supervision with various tools and machines in the training workshop. The aim was to independently produce a small vehicle model from sheet metal - and learn basic manual skills in the process.

The individual project stations included:

  • Mechanical machining of the axles on the lathe
  • Center punching and drilling of radiator grille and tailgate
  • Production of the mudguards using a folding machine and impact shears
  • Drilling the body and hood

A particular highlight was the factory tour focusing on robotics, during which the students were given fascinating insights into modern production processes.

After the final lunch together, the varied day ended at around 2 p.m. - accompanied by new impressions, lots of new knowledge and a self-made sheet metal car to take home.

LÄPPLE AUSBILDUNGS GmbH would like to thank everyone involved for a successful project day and looks forward to further encounters with committed young talents.
